my name is Marina Caramellino, environmental hiking guide registered with AIGAE PI 699, after various experiences in the mountains this is now my profession.
In addition to general naturalistic and environmental knowledge, my passion is to tell you the history of the places, villages and peasant or mountain civilization in which I do my hikings.
I always propose “slow motion” excursions to be able to look around and discover the landscape in its many touristic aspects. I came into this profession late, so I love to call myself a senior guide and, at the right pace and with a little training, my excursions are accessible to everyone.
I walk the western Ligurian hinterland, in the Ligurian and Maritime Alps and of course on the path I love most: the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri.
Depending on the seasons, I move in different natural environments: in winter on snow-covered grounds, with snowshoes, on easy routes for everyone, and in the other seasons I move around the area by walking on paths and ancient mule tracks.
I organize daily walks and multi-day treks where, when feisible, with luggage transport from one stopover to another so that my companions can walk lightly and fully enjoy the movement though nature.

From Rocchetta Nervina to Mendatica
A border path, a long but not particularly difficult trail, plunging into a largerly different Liguria, just think that since prehistoric times the Ligurians lived in the castles hidden in the forests and on the mountain peaks. Through the Ligurian Alps Park which includes among the most beautiful and intact mountains, lean meadows and grassy lands, vast woods with wild and suggestive massifs.
An articulated itinerary that includes 4 stages, the entire route winds from a difference in height that rises from 400 meters to 2200 meters on Mount Saccarello, the highest peak in Liguria. This is the most "alpine" stretch of the entire Alta Via, deeply gratifying for those who love the mountains and especially for those who love that particular mountain environment that , from its heights, a panorama that sweeps up to the sea.
1. From Rocchetta Nervina (reachable by bus) you walk to the Gola di Gouta hut, 6 hours of walking with a positive difference in height of 400 m.
2. From Gola di Gouta to Colla Melosa immersed in unique panoramas, 7 hours of walking with a positive altitude difference of 1012 m.
3. From Colla Melosa to the top of Monte Saccarello and to the eastern front where there is a large bronze statue of Christ the Redeemer (Redentore), we are above the village of Monesi di Triora, a 7 hour walk with a positive height difference of 1100 m.
4. From Valletta di Monesi di Triora we reach the village of Mendatica, a 6 hour walk with a negative altitude difference of 1720 m.

Monte Galero ring
Starting from the San Bernardo di Garessio hill m. 1000, we shall continue to the top of Monte Galero m. 1700. Its name derives from the dialect of the Alpine-Ligurian valleys and indicates the rooster, the “black grouse” that nests on this mountain in its southernmost limit. The whole area of Monte Galero is a site of community interest "SIC" on the watershed between the Tanaro and Centa basins, on the border between Piemonte and Liguria, characteristic are the stone giants, a series of sharp rocky spiers 25/30 meters high. It is an isolated giant crossed by the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri, an important crossing point between Piemonte and Liguria. From Colle San Bernardo through an extensive beech forest that, with steep climbs, leads to the top, once the wood is over you find yourself in the wide meadows and at the summit cross. Continuing along the Galerotto cross, you begin the descent among the stone giants that leads to the Bocchino delle Meraviglie spring and the dirt road from where you started.
Difference in height + 700 m. - Difficulty E hiking - Length 14 km. approximately.
